She was a member of Cedar Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she had served as a deacon and youth program leader. Gerry had served on the Board of Directors for the Greeneville-Greene County YMCA, in addition to volunteering many hours of service to the “Y”. She spent many years caring for family members in declining health, many at Life Care East where she continued to assist others by volunteering her time at the facility. During the years that her children and grandchildren participated in high school athletics she followed the teams to all their games and was a huge supporter of the teams.
"She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was affectionately known to those close to her as “Mudder.” Her door was open to all, and she took care of her family and friends, making everyone feel welcome and loved." her family stated.
