R. B. “Junior” Barkley Jr., age 72, of the Meadowview Community, Greeneville, passed away at Johnson City Medical Center Saturday, January 16, 2010. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. January 19, 2010 in the Jeffers Funeral Chapel with interment to follow in Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev Sidney Barkley and Mike Barkley will officiate.The family will receive friends Monday 2-4 and 6-8 at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service. Survivors include Wife: of 41 years Cora Sue Barkley; 1 son and daughter-in-law David and Misty Barkley of Meadowview Community; 1 daughter and son-in-law Davena and Larry Brown; 2 special grandchildren Matthew Brown, Tanner Collins; sister-in-law Bonita Barkley; brother-in-law and sister-in-law James Bryan and Ruthie Jones; several nieces and nephews and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: R.B. Barkley and Rhoda Jane Barkley; 5 brothers: Edward Barkley, Paul Barkley, James Barkley, John Barkley, and Andrew Barkley. Pallbearers will be Darius Barkley, Brian Jones, Kent Jones, Jerome Woolsey, Brent Penley, Davey Fellers, Ray Barkley and Greg Barkley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Baileyton Ruritan, United Vol Fire Dept., Bud Freshour, Bill Crawford, J. B. Woolsey, Rodger Woolsey, Jackie Kirkpatrick, Doug Carter, Bill Barkley, Jerry Weems, Dr. Rufus Breckenridge. Mr. Barkley was retired from Wright Brothers Construction Co. He was a member of Baileyton Ruritan and show manager for the Baileyton Horse Show for 27 years and Coached and umpired baseball and softball games
