Obituary:
Anthony Brewster Barrett, age 77, of Walkertown Road, Afton, was born February 5, 1933 in New York City. He passed away Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Johnson City Medical Center. A Memorial Service and reception will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Walkertown Presbyterian Church with Rev. Sam Smith officating. survivors include his loving wife: Bonnie K. Barrett of Afton, TN; his brother: Neil Barrett of Asheville, NC; and his stepdaughter Katherine Nelsen and her husband Larry Bitensky of Lancaster, KY. He was preceded in death by his mother Isabel MacBain Barrett, father Ralph Hooker Barrett, and stepson Ronald K. Nelsen. Mr. Barrett was a graduate of Madison High School in Madison, New Jersey and attended County College of Morris in Randolf, New Jersey. Formerly Employed by: Township of Mendham in Brookside, NewJersey; Lieutenant, Mendham Township Police Dept. and Superintendent of Public Works; Retired and returned to the farm that had been in his family for 200 years. Raised diary replacement heifers and beef cattle.He was a Life Member of the N.J. Police Benevolent Association, N.J. Public Works Association, 4 Seasons Gun Club, Weltonville Fire Company, and National Rifle Association and held Membership at Speedsville-Newark Valley Masonic Lodge, American Legion in Greeneville, TN.and Moose Lodge 692 in Greeneville, TN. Mr. Barrett served with the 11th Airborne during the Korean War.
