Obituary:
Charlotte E. King, 81, of Greeneville died Tuesday at Laughlin Memorial Hospital. Miss King retired from Kennedy Space Center after 35 years of service. She was one of the first two secretaries hired at Cape Canaveral, which is now Kennedy Space Center, in Florida. She was a daughter of the late George and Mary King and was preceded in death by two brothers: Howard Carter and Boyd Carter; and a sister: Romayne Felts. Survivors include a special sister-in-law: Catherine Carter of the Pleasant Vale community; a niece: Janice Carter Johnson; three nephews and their spouses: Darmon and Phyllis Carter of Greeneville. Roger and Peggy Carter of Pleasant Vale, and Terry Felts; five great-nephews: Nick Felts, Kenny Carter, Mike Carter, Doug Johnson, and Brad Johnson; two great-nieces: Karen Carter Cobble and Connie Hamilton; five great-great-nephews: Joseph Foulks, Hunter Cobble, Jordan Carter, Kenyon Hamilton, and Bronson Coles; and her cousins: Marlin King, Geraldine King, and Bobby Barger. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. today at Jeffers Funeral &Cremation Service. The funeral service will follow visitation at 7 o'clock in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Jim Fillers will officiate. A committal service will be held at 10:30 Thursday morning in Cross Anchor Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at 9:45 at the funeral home to travel in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bob Cooper, Gene Johnson, Joe Foulks, Roger Carter, Bill Moncier, and Kenny Carter.
