James Alvin Griffey, age 73, of Afton, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at the Bristol Regional Hospital. The funeral service will be Thursday, March 4, 2010, at 7:00 pm in the Jeffers Funeral Chapel. Graveside Service will be Friday, March 5, 2010 at GraceLand Memorial Gardens at 11:00 am. Rev. Eugene Wilcox will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Johnnie Shinks, Jimmy Griffey Survivors include Wife: Peggy Griffey; 3 Daughters & 2 Sons in Law: Margaret Griffey of Baltimore, MD, Janet & Greg Wilcox of Jonesborough and Pam & Kendall Blankenship of Afton; 3 Sons & 3 Daughters in Law: James & Dorianne Griffey of Phoenix, MD, Kenny Griffey of Waskom, TX and Bobby & Elsie Griffey of Parkton, MD; Grandchildren: Ashley Griffey, James Griffey, Allyson Wilcox, Jordan Wilcox, Kaleb Blankenship, Joshua Eyler, Kimberly Shelly, Bradley Griffey, Isaac Griffey, Christian Griffey; Grafton Griffey, Alexis Griffey, Joshua Adams, Colin Griffey; 3 Brothers & Sisters in Law: Jr & Clara Griffey, Steve & Ginger Griffey, and Ricky & Debbie Griffey all of Knoxville; 3 Sisters & 1 Brother in Law: Shirley Choate of Knoxville, Faye & Don Cochran of Mascott, TN, and Brenda Griffey of Knoxville; Several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents: Rufus & Eva Griffey; 1 Daughter: Linda Marie, 1 Brother: Don Griffey; 1 Sister: Mildred Hamilton. He attended Oak Dale Union Church.
