Harry Sam Holt, 82, a former longtime Greeneville resident, died Friday at Eliza Coffee Hospital in Florence, Ala.Mr. Holt, who was originally from the Cedar Creek community, had been known by the nickname "Fuzz" since he was a little boy. He had lived in Greeneville most of his life.He was retired from employment at H.T. Hackney Company. Following his retirement, he moved to Frost Proof, Fla. Later, due to health reasons, he and his wife moved to Tuscumbia, Ala., where they were living at the time of his death.
Mr. Holt attended Hampton Heights Baptist Church in Tuscumbia.His family stated, "He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather." Survivors include: his wife: Neverly Louise Lowe Holt; one child and his spouse: Ralph and Janet Holt of Tuscumbia; three grandchildren and their spouses: Matthew and Regina Holt, Joel and Cassie Holt, and Tim Holt; and five great-grandchildren: Abigail Holt, Joshua Holt, Anna Holt, Grant Holt and Olivia Holt.He was preceded in death by four older sisters: Sally Goins, Shirley Holt, Geraldine Collins, and Grace Davis; and one brother: Paul Lowe of Presque Isle, Maine.The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. today at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service.The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Jeffers Funeral Chapel.Ralph Holt will officiate.Interment will be in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.Pallbearers will be Matthew Holt, Joel Holt, Tim Holt, Buford Davis, Odean Goins and Dexter Goins.
