Cecil George Malone age 87 of the Ottway community went to be with his Savior Friday September 1, 2023 at the Holston Valley Medical Center. He attended Brittontown Church as long as his health permitted. He was known as an avid bird-dog hunter, longtime member of the Greene County Bird Dog Association; raised and trained bird dogs for people all over the country (one went on and won National Champion and one dog of the year), later he helped as a judge at the field trials. He was a loyal Braves fan and well known for his carpentry and masonry skills through all Greene County. He helped to build the Vo-Tech and the Kmart buildings and many houses through the years. He is survived by his last loyal bird dog Sissy, daughter Sandra (Jeff) Davis, son Gary (Crystal) Malone, step daughter Jamie (Kendall) Shipley, step son Sammy (Nyki) Britton, brother Doug (Kathy) Malone, brother-in-law who was like a brother William (Pat) Harmon, brother-in-law Billy (Gay) Owens, sister-in-law Bonnie Harmon, grandchildren James McAmis, Ethan (Jamie) McAmis, Josh (Haley) Malone, Madison Malone, Dustin Pealer, Mickaylee (Jon Luke) Myers, Baxley Britton, Londyn Britton, great grandchildren baby Malone due in 2024, Jaxson Myers, Eliza Kate Myers, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Louise Malone, 2nd wife Phyllis (Britton) Malone, granddaughter Candace Annette McAmis, father and mother Miller and Ora Malone, brothers Robert, Leonard, and David Malone, sisters Madeline Reynolds, Wilma Malone, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Kenneth Harmon, Ann (Starlin) Devoti, Della (Sonny) Myers, and Linda (Hopper) McLean. The family will receive friends from 1-3pm and 5-7pm Tuesday at Jeffers Funeral and Cremation Service Downtown. The funeral service will follow at 7pm Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Roger Dykes and Rev. Jeff Gibson officiating. The graveside service will be Wednesday at 11am in Cross Anchor Cemetery. It is requested that family and friends meet at the funeral home Wednesday at 10:15am to go in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be James McAmis, Ethan McAmis, Josh Malone, Dustin Pealer, David Weems, Mark Harmon, Kenny Malone.
