Charles E. “Gene” Starnes, 85, of the Union Temple Community, passed away today, August 6, 2021, at the The Courtyard in Johnson City. He was a US Army Veteran. He retired from Brandon & Hull Oil Company and Brandon Farms.\nHe is survived by a host of special nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law: Wanda Brockway.\nHe was preceded in death by his wife: Helen Starnes; parents: Looney & Dora Ann Starnes; 4 brothers: Guy Starnes, Tom Starnes, Robert “Cotton” Starnes, Jim Starnes; 2 sisters: Vina Carter, Blanche “Sis” Jones.\nThe family will receive friends Saturday, August 7, 2021 from 6-8PM at Jeffers Funeral Services Downtown. The funeral will be Sunday, August 8, 2021 at 2PM in Jeffers Funeral Services Chapel Downtown with the Rev. Lanny Carter and Rev. Jeff Gibson officiating.
