Chuckey, Tennessee
Cynthia Leanne “Cindy” Armstrong, 63, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2026, at Johnson City Medical Center, surrounded by the family she loved dearly.
Cindy was born May 28, 1963, to the late Dale and Marjorie Armstrong. She was a devoted member of Cedar Grove Christian Church and a woman whose faith in the Lord was an important part of her life.
Cindy was a truly sweet soul who cared deeply for others. She loved her family fiercely and was always willing to offer kindness, compassion, and a helping hand to those around her. She was an avid sports fan and especially loved the University of Tennessee. Her love of sports began during her own college years, when she attended Tusculum College on an academic and basketball scholarship. She graduated from Chuckey-Doak High School in 1981 where she was a member of the state tournament basketball team. She also had a special love for collecting Precious Moments, a reflection of her appreciation for the simple and meaningful things in life.
Cindy leaves behind her beloved brother, Tim Armstrong and his wife, Nedra; her nephew, Scott Armstrong and his wife, Emmy; her niece, Brandy McAmis; and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Tatum McAmis, Andrew Armstrong, Harper Armstrong, and Wade Armstrong. Also, Mary Armstrong, a very special aunt.
She is also survived by many special family members who held a treasured place in her heart. The Collette family were also special to Cindy, they were like a second family to her.
Cindy was blessed with special friendships that brought joy and love to her life, including Kim Kilday, Kelyn Norton, and Beth Frye.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Marjorie Armstrong.
Cindy’s life was a testament to faith, family, kindness, and love. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her love for the Lord, her loyalty to her family and friends, her Tennessee pride, and the genuine care she showed to others. Though she is no longer with us, the love she gave so freely will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
The family will receive friends Wednesday September 23, 2026 from 4-7 pm at Jeffers Funeral Home in Afton. The funeral service will be Thursday morning at 10am in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Chase Murray officiating. The graveside will follow at Cedar Grove Christian Church cemetery.
Pall bearers will be Andrew Armstrong, Chris Gray, Kevin Collette, Chris Dixon, Lee Southerland, Sammy Southerland, and Chris Wilhoit.
Cindy’s family finds comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and in the presence of the Lord she loved so dearly. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the cemetery fund at Cedar Grove Christian Church.
Though she is no longer with us, the memories Cindy captured through her photographs—and the memories she created simply by being part of our lives—will remain with us forever.
She was deeply loved, and she will never be forgotten.
