Danny Knight

Sgt. Daniel C. Knight of the Orebank Community passed away Friday February 27, 2026 at his home. He was a member of Jackson's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. He was a Purple Heart recipient of the Vietnam War and a lifetime member of the Disabled Veterans Association. He was a proud veteran, dad, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 46 yrs Lavada Metcalf Knight, his children Robin and Johnny Jones, Tina Dugger, Charles and Nikki Knight, and Denise (Bobbie) and John Giuffrida, grandchildren Brian Jones, Mannix and Chelsey Jones, Reece and Madison Knight, 5 great grandchildren Xavier, Bricen, Hayden, Ellaree, and Ezra Jones, brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Debbie Knight, sister Ralphine House, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Rev. Hubert and Doris Metcalf, Alvin, and Carl Metcalf, several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Georgia Bell Knight, brother Bill Knight, and a son Jimmy Dugger who he loved dearly. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Silver Angels and Caris Health Care for assisting with his care and his friends and family for their frequent visits during his last days. It meant so much to him. The family will receive friends from 4-7pm Tuesday March 3, 2026 at Jeffers Funeral and Cremation Service downtown. The funeral service will be 2pm Wednesday in Jackson Chapel FWB Church with the burial to follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Hubert Metcalf officiating and military honors to be conducted by the Greene County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Mannix Knight, Jimmy Knight, Jason Knight, Randy Bible, Brain Jones, and Mannix Jones.
