Dewayne Edward Carter.47, of the Romeo Community, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021, from Covid complications at Greeneville Community Hospital East. Dewayne enjoyed fishing, hunting, and taking rides with “Reese pup” his Ride or Die dog. He also enjoyed gardening and raising hogs. He was an employee of John Deere Power Products.\n \nHe is survived by his companion of 10 years: Laura Carter of the Romeo Community; mother and stepfather: Margie Carter Gunter and Jim Gunter; sister: Sandi and husband Greg Patterson; half- sisters: Lori, Ashley, Angel, Sharon, and Samantha Carter: step brother: Jeffrey and Amanda Gunter; step sister: Lisa Weems; children he raised: Amber and Ricky Hammonds; grandson: Jayden Hammonds; several nieces and a nephew.\n \nHe was preceded in death by his father: Floyd Carter; brother: Jeffrey Starnes; grandparents: Will and Ollie Booker Starnes, Roy and Helen Banks Carter; nephew: Deacon Chappell.\n \nThe family will receive friends on Friday, September 17, 2021 from 4-7PM at Jeffers Funeral Services Downtown. The funeral will be Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 2PM at Jeffers Funeral Services Downtown Chapel.
