Donald "Don" Dean Wilcox age 83 of Afton passed away Friday evening January 13, 2023, his family's hearts are at peace knowing that he has joined his daughter Lisa now. He retired from Holston Defense Ammunition Plant as a truck driver and was an avid Tobacco farmer and coon hunter as his health permitted. He was a member of Oakdale Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 64 yrs Stella Wilcox, 3 daughters and sons-in-law Donna and Jeff Lowe, Sheila and Marlon Hyatt, Angie and Les Weems, grandchildren Jessica and Eric Lutz, Jason and Bridget Lowe, Kimberly and David Darnell, Katelyn Weems, great grandchildren Brylee Lutz, Blaine Darnell, Dansby and Reece Lowe, Jordan Bishop. He was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Clarice Wilcox, daughter Lisa Wilcox, brother Bill Wilcox. The family will receive friends from 4-7pm Thursday at Jeffers Funeral Chapel at Afton. The funeral service will follow at 7pm Thursday in the Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Baxter and Kevin Morrison officiating. The graveside service will be at 2pm Friday in Oakdale Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family and friends are ask to meet Friday at 1pm to go in procession to the cemetery for the graveside service. Pallbearers will be Les Weems, Eric Lutz, Jason Lowe, David Darnell, Jeff Charlton, Lynn Bolton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Oakdale Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
