Glenna Emilea Kimery Chapman, 80, of the Bales Chapel Community, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Life Care Center of Greeneville. She was the daughter of the late Georgia Josephine Mays Kimery and William Paul Kimery. She married her high school sweetheart, Elijah Lee Chapman, on October 17, 1959, and they were together 53 years until his death in 2013.\n\nMrs. Chapman worked as an administrative assistant for several years at the Greene County Register of Deeds, Parkway Contractors, and later at Tusculum College. A lifelong member of Bales Chapel United Methodist Church, where she attended church and served as secretary as long as her health permitted. Her greatest joy in life was her grandson, Brandon. She was extremely proud of all his accomplishments and the young man he has become. \n\nSurvivors include her son and daughter-in- law, Danny and Robin; her grandson and girlfriend; Brandon and LaShea Rhodes; a sister, Joyce Shipley; a brother-in-law and wife, Jimmy and Linda Chapman; several nieces and nephews including Ricky and Teresa Kimery, Randy and Joyce Kimery, Pam Kimery, Libby Stewart, Paul and Paula Shipley, Kevin Shipley, Sandy Kimery, Brent and Sarah Chapman, Greg and Crystal Chapman, Mike Chapman, Jamie Chapman, and several great - nieces and nephews.\n\nShe is preceded by her brothers and spouses; JD and Virginia Kimery, Lavane and Bonnie Kimery and Bob Kimery; brother-in-law, Hugh Allen Shipley; nephew Bobby John Kimery and niece Debbie Shelton.\n\nThe family will receive friends from 2-4 Sunday with the funeral to follow at 4pm at Jeffers Funeral Chapel at Afton. Interment will follow at Cross Anchor Cemetery. The Pastor Stephen Kimery and Rev. Mark Laughlin will officiate.\n\nPallbearers will be Brandon Chapman, Brent Chapman, Kevin Shipley, Paul Shipley, Randy Kimery and James Holm.\n\nHonorary Pallbearers will be her caregivers at Brookdale Assisted Living and Life Care Center of Greeneville, Ricky Kimery, Mike Chapman, Jamie Chapman, Greg Chapman, Mason Strong, Ryan Holm and Jessie Holm. \n\nMemorials may be made to Cross Anchor Cemetery c/o Lynn Foshee, 29 Lobo Loop, Greeneville , TN 37745.
