Rev. Erwin E.C. "Goose" Gosnell Obituary (1926

RESIDENCE: of Greeneville He was a Greene County Native and lived in Jonesborough for forty one years before returning to Greeneville in 2006. He was the son of the late Martha Tweed Gosnell and the late Major Erwin Gosnell. DATE OF DEATH: Went home to be with Jesus on January 27, 2011 at 1:15 PM at the age of 84. PLACE OF FUNERAL: Services for Rev. Gosnell will be conducted at 2:00 pm Sunday in the Afton Chapel of Jeffers. The family will receive friends from 12 pm until 2:00 pm at Jeffers Funeral Chapel at Afton Special Music by: Gina Hubbard INTERMENT: River Hill Cemetery MINISTERS: Rev Mike Hensley and Rev Dwayne Steele SURVIVORS: his wife of 59 years, Wilma Jean Parker Gosnell, one son Ed Gosnell and wife Lisa of Jonesville, SC one daughter Jodi Ray of Kingsport, two granddaughters Jessica Glauer and Molly Grace Ray of Kingsport and one grandson Zackery Seaton of Limestone, brother-in-law Bob Parker of Kingsport, sisters-in-law Judy Bacon of Johnson City, TN and Mary Austin and Husband Warren of Loxahatchee, FL. A host of nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his special friends and brothers in Christ Don Foulks and Wayland Fillers. PRECEEDED IN DEATH BY: by one daughter, Trudy Gosnell Seaton, One granddaughter Sarah Seaton, seven brothers and five sisters. PALLBEARERS: Bryan Bacon, Edward Haney, Charles Gosnell, Jimmy Gosnell, Clayton Gosnell, Roger Tweed, Steve and David Gosnell and Don Foulks. OCCUPATION: He was a retired Baptist preacher of the Greeneville and Jonesborough area. He was a member of Overlook Baptist Church, Greeneville. The family would like to thank Carlis Health, Dr. James Oakely, Dr Bakshi and Dr. David Jones and a very special nurse Tricia Hamby, A special thanks to Edward and Alice Haney. REMARKS: Rev Gosnell served his Army Career in fort Ord, Georgia and Korea at the 38th Parallel in Okinawa Japan, Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia and Fort Lee, Virginia. Rev Gosnell will be sadly missed but happily remembered for his fine example of living for our Lord Jesus Christ and telling all those around him about the peace he found in his steadfast faith.
