Frank Newton Jr

–

Greeneville, Tennessee

Frank Newton Jr, of Greeneville, Tennessee, passed away on 09/27/26 at the age of 75.

To know Frank was to know a man with a big personality, a big heart, and usually a story that was even bigger. He was a man who loved life, loved people, and most certainly loved having an audience.

Frank proudly served his community for 32 years through his career with the Greeneville Fire Department, where he retired as a Lieutenant. His years as a firefighter were an important part of his life, and he took great pride in the people he worked with and the community he served.

While working full time at the fire department, he opened A & W Jewelers, where he continued meeting people, making friends, and doing what he loved most—talking.

And boy, could he talk. He loved telling stories, especially the wild ones. Whether you had heard the story five times already or were hearing it for the first time, he would tell it like it was the greatest story ever told. And somehow, the story always seemed to get a little bigger and better each time.

He also loved attention—and he wasn’t particularly picky about where it came from. He especially enjoyed attention from the ladies and had a way of making sure he was noticed.

His pool was often the place to be. He loved having family and friends over to swim, hang out, laugh, talk, and make memories. He enjoyed being surrounded by people and never seemed to mind having a house full of company.

He loved riding his Harley and the freedom that came with being out on the open road. Whether he was headed somewhere specific or simply enjoying the ride with a beautiful woman on the back, his Harley was another reflection of the independent, adventurous spirit that made him who he was.

Frank was not a quiet man, and he certainly wasn’t a forgettable one. He had a personality that filled a room. He could make you laugh, drive you crazy, embarrass you, make you shake your head, and give you a story you would tell for years—all sometimes within the same conversation.

But beneath all of that was a man who loved his family and his people in his own unmistakable way.

He leaves behind his children Amber and Berry Starrette and Wesley Newton, grandchildren Noah, Bella and Ethan Starrette and Dacey and Mathew Morelock, father Frank Newton Sr, siblings Linda Laws and Jody Newton, special niece Kimberly Patterson-Bowen, special friends Crystal Jesse, Anna Lowery, Bobby Allen, Joseph “Johnny” Morgan, Jimmy Lynn Shipley and countless other family members friends, and fellow firemen who will carry his memory with them.

He was proceeded in death by his girlfriend Kathryn Crumm, former wife, mother of his children, and best friend Janie Newton, mother Lena Newton, brother-in-law JB Laws, infant daughter Jennifer, his best friend and wingman Jim Bowman, and many of his fellow firefighters whom he loved like family.

We will remember his laugh, his stories, his love of attention, his Harley, his pool parties, and all the wonderfully unforgettable things that made him Frank.

He was one of a kind. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

The graveside will be Friday, October 2,2026 at 2 pm in Greenelawn Memory Gardens with Chaplin Danny Ricker officiating. Pallbearers will be members of the Greeneville Fire Department. Family and friends are requested to meet at 1:15 pm at Jeffers Funeral Service downtown to go in procession to the cemetery.
