Harold Chapman

Harold Lyle Chapman, 82, of Greeneville, passed away Thursday February 3, after a brief illness.

He was a construction worker and a certified welder, and he owned and operated Eastern General Contractors, until his retirement.

He attended Untied Baptist Church. Mr. Chapman was very musically talented and loved to pick with his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Nancy Chapman; his children, Kim (Wayne) Fawbush of Illinois, and Robin Chapman of Greeneville; stepchildren, Nathan Gregg, Deanna (Brian) Herskind, and Joe (Deborah) Boles all of Greeneville; grandchildren, Dessica (Josh) Baros, Jeremy (Karen) Fawbush, Cody (Emily) Fawbush, and Matthew Chapman all of Illinois, Rebbeca Chapman of Johnson City, Nathan Chapman of Kingsport, Josh Gregg of Atlanta, Hayley (Jacob) Mayfield of Greeneville, Adam (Anna) Boles of Jonesborough, Jermiah (Lauren) Stout of Blountville, Cassie (Charles) Bryant of Nashville, Danielle Brewer, and Kevin Chapman Jr., of Arizona; 8 great-grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild; sisters, Doris Jean (Jim) Britton, and Brenda Carter; sister-in-law, Beverely Chapman; brother-in-law, Jamup (Margeret) Ayers; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Rose Chapman; son, Kevin Chapman; brothers, Billy Joe and Jerry Chapman; sister, Marilyn Willett; and daughter-in-law, Dera Gregg.

Family will receive friends Saturday from 5 – 7 pm at Jeffers Downtown with funeral to follow at 7 with Pastor Nick Bailey officiating. The graveside service will be Sunday at 3pm at Wesley’s Chapel. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 2pm Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Baros, Jacob Mayfield, Jeremiah Strout, and Davey Swatzell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wesley Chapel Cemetery fund.
