James J.T. Taylor Weems Obituary (2018)

James Taylor (J.T.) Weems, 84, of the Cross Anchor community, went to his heavenly home Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Johnson City Medical Center due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Monday, February 5, 2018. He was the son of the late James (Jim) and Hazel Weems. J.T. retired from Magnavox and became a farmer where he enjoyed working in his gardens and giving vegetables to his family and friends. He also dearly enjoyed making music with his guitar and banjo with friends and family. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Cross Anchor. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Marcella Weems; son and his wife: Larry and Julie Weems; daughter and her husband: Lana and Jeff Brown; grandchildren: Hannah Brown. Seth Brown, Carrie Weems, and Grace Weems; one beloved brother who was his best friend and his wife: Ted and Jane Weems; Three loving sisters: Janice Rader, Drucilla Miller, and Dorles and JD Sensabaugh; special Aunt: Mary Greenlee; and a loyal cousin Bobby Greenlee; and numerous dear nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law: Lewis Rader Jr. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Jeffers Funeral and Cremation Service Downtown. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1 pm in Jeffers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Carter officiating. Interment will follow at Cross Anchor Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Travis Weems, Todd Weems, David Sensabaugh, Terry Sensabaugh, Chris Shaver, and Seth Brown.
