Jimmy Dwayne Sauls

–

Afton, Tennessee

Jimmy Dwayne Sauls, of Baileyton, passed away on Thursday, 10 September 2026, at the age of 79. He was a Christian and attended Brittontown Church as long as his health permitted.

He was a 1964 graduate, and valedictorian, of North Greene High School and was a veteran of the Tennessee National Guard. He retired after 30 years with the Kingsport Press, working in manufacturing, customer service, and sales. After his retirement from the Kingsport Press, he enjoyed many years in the typesetting business with his wife Bennie, as they owned and operated Rainbow Graphics in Kingsport, as well as raised grandsons Dakota and Braeden from an early age. After a couple more adventures, he found his last retirement job as special helper on his grandson's farm.

A good neighbor and one to always help those in need, he loved being around his family and being a part of all the things his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids were doing. He enjoyed farming, raising his garden, and hanging out in the barn visiting with everyone that would stop by.

He was preceded in death by his father James Bell "Jim" Sauls, his mother Asalee Florence (Henry) Sauls, his wife of 38 years, Bernice Elizabeth (Higgins) Sauls, sister-in-law Thelma Bowlin and husband Ron, step-daughter Mikki Hughes, step-grandson Mark Skerrett, and his special friend, Drake. As well as his many aunts and uncles from days gone by.

He is survived by his daughter Tammy Sauls, his son Jimmy D. Sauls Jr. and wife Megan, step-son Kelly Smith, his grandsons Jimmy D. Sauls III (Trey), Clinton Smith and wife Kim, Dakota Melton and wife Samantha, Elijah Sauls, Braeden Vereecke, Keaton "KJ" Sauls, and Dayton Sauls, his granddaughters McHaley Dawn (Sauls) Decker and husband Chris, Christy (Hughes) Skerrett, his great-grandkids Lilly, Colt, Presley, and Tate Decker, Harper and Grayson Melton, Brooke Skerrett, and KC, Chance, Karter, and Ruthie Smith.

The family will receive friends from 2:00PM until 4:00PM on Sunday, 20 September at Jeffers Funeral Home downtown. A graveside service will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery (Orebank) with the Rev. Roger Dykes and the Rev. Nathan Reynolds officiating.

Pallbearers will be Pappaw’s grandsons.
