John Twork

John Vincent Twork passed away peacefully in Holston Valley Medical Hospital on June 9, 2026.

John was born in Detroit, Michigan, on March 4, 1948. He graduated from Michigan Tech, and received his PhD in Environmental Chemistry from The University of Michigan, where he also met his wife, Sherilyn. He enjoyed many years of work as a senior chemist at Eastman Chemical Company.

John was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, and role model, and we always appreciated his understanding and thoughtful intentions, and his deep kindness and his sense of humor. He loved teaching others about the world, and also enjoyed biking, golfing, reading, and cheering on the Detroit Lions and Tigers.

He is predeceased by his parents John Joseph Twork and Helen Monica Twork. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Sherilyn; his three children, Monica, Greg (wife Beth Lawrence), and Elizabeth Twork; his grandchildren Sylvia and Cordelia Twork; and his siblings Marge Andrews and Jim (wife Elaine) Twork.

A funeral mass will be held at Saint Dominic Catholic Church in Kingsport at 1:00 pm on June 12, with visitation at noon.
