Lawerence Lee Shelton Obituary (2015) - Greeneville, Tennessee

Lawerence L. Shelton, 69, of Mosheim, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at his home. He was a retired security guard and had also owned his own insurance business for several years. He was an avid sportsman, having had his own softball and basketball teams for several years. He also owned and operated Shelton's Beagles. He was a faithful member of Lick Creek Valley F.W.B. Church. He always loved the camping adventures with the youth group and they loved him dearly. He was a devoted husband, dad, and papaw. He will be dearly missed and never forgotten. He is survived by: his wife and love of his life of 37 years: Patsy Hinkle Shelton; 1 precious daughter: Ashley Wykle and a "devoted" son-in-law: Jody Wykle; 1 son: Craig Shelton and "special" daughter-in-law: Robin Shipley Shelton; his pride and joy, his granddaughter: Emily Marie and 3 little boys Greyson Sauceman, Thomas Carpenter, and Austin Wykle, who he was known to by being called "Poppy"; 2 sisters and 1 brother-in-law: Louise and Johnny Sparks, Jeanetta "Moxie Dean"; special brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Dale Hinkle and Teresa Hinkle Farmer; a friend whom he adored, Ruby Hawkins Livingston and his special Lick Creek Valley Church family; very special nephew: Dennis Ricker and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins; special uncle: Leonard Shelton; special thanks to Margeaux Clements and her staff Lisa Woolsey and Chasity Birdwell. He is preceded in death by: parents: Norman and Susie Lamb Shelton; brother: Kenny Shelton; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Minnis and Carrie Mae Hinkle; a special aunt: Linda Dotson Smith who passed away on 8/16/15; brother-in-law: Mickey Lynn Hinkle. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 25, 2015 from 4-7 PM at Jeffers Funeral and Cremation Service Downtown. The funeral service will be held in the chapel at 7 PM following the visitation. The graveside service will be held on Saturday at 1 PM at Sunrise Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josh Wykle, Johnny Sparks, Buck Rader, Daniel Sauceman, Buster Shelton, Michael Scott Hinkle, Eric Lynn Hinkle, Elbert Hogan, and Danny Sauceman. Honorary pallbearers will be neighbors, Lick Creek FWB Church, and the attorneys at Laughlin, Nunnally, Hood & Crum. The Rev. Paul Ragon and Rev. Ray Fletcher will officiate.
