Lewis Doyle Stroud age 83 of Greeneville passed away at his home on Tuesday morning March 21, 2023. He was a US Army Veteran serving overseas time in Japan from 1958-1960 and was a member of Oak Grove FWB Church since 1973 where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He loved his church and seldom missed a service. He had many friends there. He retired from PET Dairy and Newport News Shipbuilders. He was a 50+ Year Mason, Master of Greeneville Lodge No. 3 F&AM from 1970-1975. He made many lifelong friends from his fraternity. Special thanks to his Tuesday visiting team of Oak Grove Church Leroy Lynch and Ivan Hinchman, ROMEO Breakfast group Jerry Dixon, Leroy Lynch, Charlie Jordan, Matthew Hensley, Gene Shelton, James Huff, and Ron Athon, members of the men's bible class, Cliff Shelton, Leroy Lynch, Chuck Clark, Earl Howe, James Huff, JH Wilhoit, Max Sauls, previous pastor and wife Rodney and Bobbie Bailey, Brother Jeremiah Lewis for continued pastoral support of our church and family, and the deacon board at Oak Grove Church. He s survived by a daughter and son-in-law Diane and Chuck Clark, son Johnny H. Stroud, 2 granddaughters Holley (Trey) Craddock, Haylee Starnes, 2 grandsons Brandon (Tenicia) Clark, Trey (Kelsie) Clark, 9 great grandchildren Ella, Chloe, Ava, Tobiah, Shelby, Ande, Asher, Adley, and Bennett, several nieces and nephews, special companion for 14 yrs Jean Henard and her daughter Deborah MacFawn and grandchildren Ella, Sophie, Tristan, and Lila. He was preceded in death by his parents Vallie Andrew and Jessie Pearl Stroud, wife Carolyn M. Stroud, son Charles Andrew Stroud, 3 brothers Clyde, Herman, and Davis Stroud, 2 sisters Frances Shelton and Mary Ruth Stroud. The family will receive friends from 2-5pm Saturday at Oak Grove FWB Church with the funeral service to follow at 5pm with Pastor Billy Gragg officiating. The graveside service will be at 9:30 am Sunday in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. It is requested that family and friends meet at 9 am Sunday at the church to go in procession to the cemetery. The Greene County Honor Guard will convey military honors Saturday at 5pm at the Church. Pallbearers will be Phil Shelton, Andy Stroud, Matthew Hensley, Alfred Shaw, Butch Shaw, and James McAfee.
