Obituary\nMary Bell Phelps Duff\n\nMary Bell Duff was born February 24,1939 to Ralph and Helen Phelps in Hiwassee Dam, NC. She was raised in Lenior City, TN. Mary Bell graduated from UT Knoxville with a bachelor’s degree in Business\nAdministration in 1959. While at UT, she was a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority. After graduating from college, she married Gerry Duff whom she was married to for 57 years. In addition to being a mother and homemaker, Mary Bell also spent many years substitute teaching in the Greeneville City Schools. She was a long-time member of the Andrew Johnson Womens’ Club, Greeneville Christian Womens’ Club and Link Hills Country Club. She was an active member at the First Baptist Church\nwhere she belonged the Senior Couples Sunday School Class. It was in this sunday school class where Mary Bell formed lifelong relationships with many of her closest and most cherished friends.\nShe is survived by granddaughter, Savannah Duff (Greeneville); daughter-in-law Melissa Duff Greeneville); grandson, Hunter Duff (Oak Ridge); sister-in-law, Alice Mayes (Lenoir City); brother-in-law, William Rogers Jr. (Alamonte Springs, FL); nieces Lisa and Glenn Orozco (Tazewell), Leslee and\nDave Arnold (Kingsport), and Linda and Don McNeil (Old Hickory); nephews Craig and Donna Mayes (Lenoir City) and Steve and Shannon Rogers (Deltona, FL). Preceding her in death were her husband, Gerry Duff; son, Doug Duff; mother, Helen Phelps; father, Ralph Phelps; sister Joan Rogers; brother-in-\nlaw, Sidney Mayes, brother and sister-in-law Gene and Dora Duff and nephew David Rogers. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on this Sunday, November 20th at Jeffers Funeral Home Downtown. The funeral service will follow at 3pm in the funeral home chapel with Dr. David Greene officiating. The graveside service will be in Lenoir City Cemetery on Monday November 21 st at 11am.
