Nell Marie Milburn, 90, of Chuckey, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning at\nGreeneville Community Hospital.\nNell viewed life as each day a gift. She valued family and her dedication to\neveryone was never in question. In her earlier years, some of her happiest days\nwere filled with gardening, canning, and preparing a table for gathering as she\ncooked delicious meals for anyone who was present. Her humbleness and gentle\nmanner coupled with a tender smile provided comfort to all who knew her. Arts\nand crafts, cross stitch and sewing were a few of her hobbies. In her later years,\nshe enjoyed the challenge of good puzzles, both piece and word. Her ability to\nfind those difficult pieces or words always impressed others. The reading of\nscripture was her daily practice. She volunteered at Greene Valley Developmental\nCenter in the Foster Grandparent Program in the years before its closure. Nell\nwalked with kindness and grace, always to be remembered.\nShe is survived by her loving and devoted son, Joe Milburn, Chuckey, whom she\nmade her home with. In addition, a daughter-in-law, Melanie Milburn (Colonel,\nRet., USAF) of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, granddaughters, Bianca Milburn, and\nEmily Milburn also of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and Brandy Nicole Ranly (Chris),\ngreat grandchildren, Christopher and Ashlynn Ranly of Greeneville;) nieces: Betty\nMorgan, Robin Gosnell (Jerry), Linda Fox (Charles) and nephew: Danny Dunn\n(Linda); several great nieces and nephews. In addition, two step-granddaughters:\nLetitia Ebmeyer and Natosha Scott and two close, loving friends, Tammy Laws and\nTrudy Milburn Wallack.\nNell was preceded in death by two sons: John Michael Milburn and Colonel\n(USAF) James David Milburn; her parents: Roy and Della Haren; a brother and\nsister-in-law: Cleveland (Hilda) Haren; and a sister: Irene “Toots” Dunn, nephew: Gary Haren.\nThe family wishes to express their gratitude for the care and compassion provided\nby the staff of Greeneville Community Hospital, with sincere recognition to the\nnurses and doctors in the ICU.\nThe family will receive friends from 10-11am Thursday at Jeffers Funeral Chapel at Afton. The funeral service will follow at 11am Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Ron Athon officiating. The graveside service will follow in Milburnton Cemetery.
