Virginia Nell Kirk,72, of Chuckey, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021 at Johnson City Medical Center. Her smile was made of sunshine and her heart was solid gold. She was a member of Open Door Tabernacle Church.\n \nShe is survived by her husband: Calvin Kirk; son & daughter-in-law: Richard & Sherry Kirk; 2 daughters & sons-in-law: Angie & Keith Fortner, Diana Kirk-Parker & Bobby Parker; grandchildren: Megan Thornburg, Danielle Thornburg, Jacob Fortner, Erin & Casey Broyles, Katelin & Tyler Bledsoe, Tiffany & Toni Miranda, Kayden Parker; great-grandchildren: Isaac, Callie, Haven, Piper; sister: Geraldine “Judy” Thornburg; several nieces & nephews; very special cousin: Debbie Chapell; special neighbors: James & Patsy Sexton; 2 sisters-in-law: Norma Jean Brown, Juanita Kirk.\n \nShe was preceded in death by parents: Henry & Dollie Hammer Raines; 3 sisters: Barbara Brockwell, Wanda Dykes, Diana Kay King; 3 brothers: Jim Raines, Ivan Raines, Cecil Raines; uncle: Winward Hammer.\n \nThe family will receive friends from 4-7 on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Jeffers Funeral Services in Afton. The funeral will follow at 7PM in the Afton Chapel with the Rev. Gene Swatzell and Rev. Tim Roach officiating.
